Ozone Panel Pty Ltd will seek to be a responsible steward of the environment and our community by ensuring its ecological and social footprint is within international best practice standards. We will do this by continually reviewing and learning from our performance and introducing environmentally responsible products into the Australian market. This responsibility is underpinned and guided by the Ceres# principles:


1. Protection of the Biosphere

We will reduce and make continual progress toward eliminating the release of any substance that may cause environmental damage to the air, water, or the earth or its inhabitants. We will safeguard all habitats affected by our operations and will protect open spaces and wilderness, while preserving biodiversity.


2. Reduction and Disposal of Wastes

We will reduce and where possible eliminate waste through source reduction and recycling. All waste will be handled and disposed of through safe and responsible methods.

Ozone Panels can be recycled or used as long-term carbon storage. Our goal is to ensure the Polyiso foam used in our panels can be diverted from landfill through the grinding of the foam and application into recycled products. Ozone Panel will continually review the research outcomes of groups such as the Polyurethane Recycle and Recovery Council whose charter is to improve the efficiency and widen the scope of post-consumer recycling efforts.


3. Energy Conservation

We will conserve energy and improve the energy efficiency of our internal operations and of the goods and services we sell. We will make every effort to use environmentally safe and sustainable energy sources.

Ozone Panel manufacturing technology is an example of energy-efficient production. Through the use of an exothermic reaction, Ozone Panels are manufactured with little requirement for energy or water. Ozone Panel seeks to minimise double handling of product by delivering orders direct from port to site.  In addition an Ozone Panel has a >50-year product life cycle and the excellent thermal properties of the panels ensure energy efficiency within the built environment. The ability to construct dwellings in a matter of days also significantly reduces labour input and site wastage.


4. Risk Reduction

We will strive to minimize the environmental, health and safety risks to our employees and the communities in which we operate through safe technologies, facilities and operating procedures.


5. Safe Products and Services

We will reduce and where possible eliminate the use, manufacture or sale of products and services that cause environmental damage or health or safety hazards. We will inform our customers of the environmental impacts of our products or services and try to correct unsafe use.


6. Environmental Restoration

We will promptly and responsibly correct conditions we have caused that endanger health, safety or the environment. To the extent feasible, we will redress injuries we have caused to persons or damage we have caused to the environment and will restore the environment.


7. Informing the Public

We will inform in a timely manner everyone who may be affected by conditions caused by our company that might endanger health, safety or the environment. Before supporting or adopting new manufacturing practices, we will consider the impact on human rights issues such as exploitation of workers and child labor. We will regularly seek advice and counsel through dialogue with persons in communities near our facilities. We will not take any action against employees for reporting dangerous incidents or conditions to management or to appropriate authorities.


8. Management Commitment

We will implement these Principles and sustain a process that ensures that the Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer are fully informed about pertinent environmental issues and are fully responsible for environmental policy. In selecting our Board of Directors, we will consider demonstrated environmental commitment as a factor.  We will also encourage participation in Ozone Panels Community First program that emphasizes the need to develop energy efficient environments for the Australian climate and provide support to communities who can benefit from our products. Ozone Panels will encourage our Product Partners and clients to share this commitment to environmental and community stewardship. Our Community First program will support charities and organisations that provide shelter and assistance to homeless youth or the disadvantaged.


9. Audits, Continual learning and Reports

We will conduct an annual self-evaluation of our progress in implementing these Principles. An effective sustainability program cannot be developed in a vacuum. Ozone Panel will continually seek to pursue or encourage initiatives and input from NGOs, academia, customers and others involved in the implementation of sustainability initiatives throughout the year. We will support the timely creation of generally accepted environmental audit procedures. We will annually complete the Ozone Panel Report, which will be made available to the public

Ozone Panel will encourage demolition contractors to recycle our panels. The first option will be to re-use the panels when buildings are demolished before the panel systems have reached the end of their useful life.

Where re-use is not possible the panels can be delivered to a conventional shredder plant, which will separate the wood facings from the insulation core in readiness for sale or further processing.

Polyisocyanurate foam is a relatively new application in the construction industry and given its life cycle is up to 50-years, only small volumes of foam are being recycled and as such commercial applications/processes for recycling are currently limited.

Current options include the heating of the foam with glycol mixtures that can achieve a simple and economically attractive recycling process. The process is emission free, not sensitive to varying product mixes and the obtained polyols can be completely reused in the manufacture of rigid foams. Polyols used in the manufacture of polyisocyanurate foam are often sourced from recycled polyurethane products. We will pursue future options that can create a continuing loop of recycling input materials.  To avoid the “Landfill Option” we will develop relationships with waste processing groups to encourage, as a minimum, the incineration of panels. This method is an effective means of avoiding landfill and waste managers that use the panels in their incinerators can achieve higher burn efficiencies during the disposal of general waste.

Ozone Panel will liaise with industry bodies such as PIMA, Covestro, the Polyurethane Foam Association ( to further develop efficient domestic recycling options.
